Deputy Douglas McElroy

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to share Special Deputy Douglas Harold McElroy (40) passed away July 17th, 2020, due to a sudden illness. Doug’s beloved wife Susan McElroy was left behind, along with their two dogs (Anna & River).

The Sheriff’s Community Foundation is planning a multi-family back-to-school event for families in need on Saturday, July 25th at the Target store in Westfield. If you can attend and assist with shopping, serving food, etc., please join us at 10:00 a.m. that day. Let Marty Braley know if you will be attending at mbraley1@aol.com.

Have you seen the virtual Citizens Academy on the Sheriff’s Facebook page? The videos are approximately 15-20 minutes in length and cover the same subjects as the in-person Academy. They are very professional and informative, and you’ll recognize some of the people in the videos. Over 600 people have been watching the videos weekly, and many alumni have said they still learned new things by watching them.

Our Citizens Academy recently participated in the Sheriff's Vehicle Cleaning & Sanitation Day. Approximately 100 vehicles from police  agencies  throughout Indiana were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized courtesy of Bolden's Cleaning!

Each participant received a gift bag with a note of appreciation, a roll of toilet paper, and a bottle of hand sanitizer.

HCSOCAAA teams up with Amazon Smile!

You can now help raise funds for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association by simply shopping on Amazon!  When you buy on AmazonSmile, a percentage of the purchase price of eligible items will be donated DIRECTLY to the HCSOCAAA.  The prices on AmazonSmile are EXACTLY the same as they are on Amazon.com, and there are no hidden fees!  It’s FREE money for us!

How do you sign up?  By simply going to https://smile.amazon.com/ch/46-2634797, log into your account, and start shopping!  You’ll see under the search box a line that says “Supporting: Hamilton County Sheriffs Citizen Academy Alumni Association”.  (The only “hitch” is that we are registered as “Hamilton County Sheriffs Citizens Academy Alumni Association, Inc.” and the word “Office” was left out.  We’re currently working to fix this so don’t despair.)

You MUST shop and order on AmazonSmile so that the proceeds will be deposited into the HCSOCAAA account.  For more information about AmazonSmile, go to smile.amazon.com. And spread the word—ANYONE can use AmazonSmile and choose HCSOCAAA as their charity!

Bryant Orem will be riding the entire 13 days of the Cops Cycling again this year so he is starting his fundraising.  If anyone would like to financially support Cops Cycling through Bryant, they can do it at:

He is hoping to raise $3,000-$4,000 this year so every little bit helps. Bryant has given so much to HCSOCAAA in the past years. Please help Bryant in his efforts to meet his goal. Thanks for your support!
